low plains drifter 10,700
I've always liked the look of the strips of game crop on the land, and was thinking of growing some, in the derelict garden next door to my back garden, the garden gets full of giant rosebay willowherb, teasel, and bramble, but I've cleared a few strips to grow something a bit more interesting, a few year ago I saw a mixture of medium height sunflowers, and some sort of game cover, millet or something I think ?, looked good whatever it was, anyone got any ideas for what I could grow, want to attract, and provide more food (seed in winter), and shelter for the birds., Cheers Quote Link to post

Giro 2,648
http://www.gwct.org.uk/game/advice/game-cover-top-of-the-crops/ Kale looks a good one .. Quote Link to post
low plains drifter 10,700
Kale is supposed to be good for winter seed production, but I'd like to grow something tall, and self supporting, and mix the sunflowers in with it Quote Link to post
low plains drifter 10,700
I've got the use of a couple of other gardens to grow veg anyway, so just wanted to rake some seed into the next door garden, think some of the game crops look quite ornamental Quote Link to post

I planted a Montana Clematis a good while ago, but my mates pup bit through the stems close to the ground, that would have covered a huge area by now Quote Link to post
